Bartenbach LichtLabor wins Kasper Salin Award 2011
Bartenbach LichtLabor was distinguished with the prestigious Kasper Salin Award for 2011 for the clear and congenial light architecture in the Swedish “Station Triangeln” traffic project.
Located directly in central Malmö the new underground railway station connects to the Triangeln shopping mall and offers travellers a place of encounter. The entrance, with its harmonious adaptation area, forms an inviting light opening from the underground station concourse into the surrounding city centre. The clean light design, prominent glass domes, as well as artistic and stylish elements emphasize the effect presented to travellers. The perfect symbiosis of light and space is integrated harmoniously in the existing cityscape.
Since neither light pipes nor other daylight systems are used to illuminate the interior, daylight is simulated with a modern artificial light control. Due to the hidden installation, travellers experience the station as being fully lit by daylight. To achieve this effect, the laterally curved tunnel walls are illuminated with white light. The brightness is automatically adapted to the time of day and weather conditions. This results in a corresponding adaptation from day to night.
“The Swedish Kasper Salin Award for 2011 is a wonderful honour for our team and a clear mandate for the continued insistence on quality and customer orientation in the future” – this was the initial reaction of Bartenbach's marketing director Sven Kühne.
