Press Conference 10:00 a.m. and Lecture for the public 07:00 p.m. in Aldrans at October 6, worldlargest Clocks (43m) at Abraj-Al-Bait-Tower in Mecca
It needed over five years of planning and execution in order to realize this clock, which can be read from up to ten kilometer distance.
This is the challenge we faced in 2005. We were sure that "it is feasible".
With the support of Bartenbach LichtLabor GmbH’s internal department for psychology of perception, simulations and several 1:1 models were constructed and tested in advance in the desert around Dubai. The fine tuning was carried out by the specialists from the research and development department from Aldrans/Tyrol.
The 43m diameter of the clocks (one on each side of the tower) was already predetermined by the client. In order to achieve the desired result, 600.000 High-Power LEDs were used for the dial and each of the hands.
Apart from the realization of the Clock, Bartenbach LichtLabor also has been processing the lighting design for extensive areas within and around the Abraj-Al-Bait Tower.
