Volksbank-Arena in Frankfurt rescued from "lights out"
The recently installed floodlight system blinded the motorists on the A 661 to such an extent that the stadium administration was not granted an operating permit. A retrofit for an unbelievable amount of 2.6 million Euros had practically been decided upon.
But then the responsible authorities had a „brainstorm“. They commissioned Bartenbach LichtLabor to develop a budget-saving adaptation which could be implemented in a short period of time.
Different attachments for the various spotlights of the floodlight system were implemented which distribute the light around the stadium and on the playing field in a target-oriented way.
The floodlight system will now even fulfill the requirements of the second division for television broadcasting, with over 1000 lx horizontal and 800 lx vertical illuminance.
The measures applied by Bartenbach LichtLabor saved the City of Frankfurt and therefore also the tax payers a veritable amount of about 2.2 million Euros. Or in other words, the adaptation costs amounted to around 350,000 Euros.
The successful realization has already gained international attention, of course especially in the world of football/soccer.
