Meeting place under daylight dome
A skylight connects the buildings with each other. And allows a connection to the outside, a view of the open sky. The atrium below the dome serves as a meeting place for employees and is the heart of the office complex. Relaxing, taking a deep breath, exchanging ideas in daylight and a feel-good atmosphere: that is the goal of this unique public space.
To avoid glare and excessive sunlight, the Bartenbach R&D department relied on multiple panes printed with a special grid. A technology that offers several advantages at once: The room adapts to the light conditions outside - thus strengthening the employees' natural biorhythms. No frosted glass needs to be used. And: The solution is economically more cost-effective than classic sun or glare protection systems. Another plus of the solution: The geometry of the dome allows it to clean itself.
Optimal lighting conditions for a special place of knowledge, creativity and networking.
Thanks to Bartenbach's unique research and development expertise, we were able to create a - simple solution - cost-effectively: multi-printed panes that eliminate the need for sun or glare protection.
BMW wants to develop nothing less than the future of the car at its new research site. The architectural concept for the new building was penned by HENN Architekten - and focuses on open, bright rooms with a feel-good atmosphere, short distances and good networking between the various specialist departments.
