The round, nine-storey “La Stafa” building has a hotel with 186 rooms on the upper six floors and a variety of shops on the lower three floors. High-gloss stainless steel cladding directs daylight in the 23-meter-high and 9-meter-wide courtyard downwards in order to illuminate the rooms on the lower floors of the hotel. In the lower area light is then scattered by the walls' nub-like surface structure, giving the lower rooms additional daylight. A skylight also allows light to enter the uppermost commercial area.
