The jury selected two First Prizes from a total 48 entries form 12 countries. One First Prize was warded to the so called SOKA-Bau, an office building in Wiesbaden, Germany. The day-lighting systems were developed and realised in co-operation with the architectural practice Herzog+Partners.
The facade solution contains a light guiding system with integral sun shading and solar uitlisation, controlling and adjusting the amount of skylight and sunlight entering the building. This system consists of adjustable reflector panels (scoops) with high reflectance aluminium surface for perfect control of skylight and sunlight. As a result the work ambience is enhanced by a harmonious and balanced distribution all day and right through the year. Optimal utilisation of direct sunlight and diffuse skylight and providing perfect visual conditions and the so important visual link to the outside assure an optimal office environment. Reduced solar gain did away with the need for a fully fledged air condition system and assures lower initial and operating cost.
